Refreshing Alcohol-Free Goodness
One of the best things that happened to me last year was that I met Reid and Julie Robinson of Beyond The Bar, a nifty little retro-breezeblock shop right down the street from us. They are an amazingly kind, real and fun couple of go-getters who have a bottle shop with a tasting room for every alcohol-free libation there is (more like a bottle ROCKET shop, the way they’re taking off). AND they’re also fans of Subversive, so we’ll be doing some collaborations and even classes!
First up, are these two designs—for Dry January or any time you’re feeling sober-curious. I’m certainly a fan of the drink, but I also know the delicious feeling that a good mocktail can deliver—and you feel better for it! Feeling Good AF (As Fuck/Alcohol Free), indeed.
If you’d like a taste of what they’re about, they’ll be on NBC Texas Today this Monday, 11:30am CST and you might recognize a little something at the end of the bar…
They’ll also be serving up classes at Meow Wolf Dallas’ AdultVerse tonight, although I believe it’s been sold out (Meow Wolf with no screaming kids is my kinda Meow Wolf!)
Now, Let’s Talk About That Hot Chef
Where do I start? You may know Jeremy Allen White from Shameless or The Bear (where he plays a chef). But this week, you (hopefully) may have seen him as the new um, face(?) of Calvin Klein. You haven’t? Well, have a seat and brace yourself for this video of all the blue-eyed chef/underwear model goodness.
Naturally, the first phrase that came to mind was HELL YES, CHEF*! and since we just got these nice waffle-weave kitchen towels in, I did what had to be done! Grab one of our towel kits to keep your hands busy while you watch that video over and over.
*in case you’re not familiar, the use of “yes, chef” in a kitchen setting helps to establish a clear chain of command and a sense of hierarchy (see this clip from The Bear).
And After The Chaos…
You may remember that, in December, we found a stash of these gorgeous towels that are no longer made. I thought they sold out really fast but the inventory was messed up and, well, we still have 10 of them! Get ‘em while they’re still (actually) here!
