New Designs, Artist Needle Minders & Melia!
plus a tribute pattern to the inimitable David Lynch
Welcome to 2025!
Hey you! Happy New Year! I finally dragged myself back to my desk; how about you? I started to stitch this new design but couldn’t finish it by today, and then it fell on the floor, and a muddy dog stepped on it, so I gave up! Here is a lovely artist’s rendition instead. An excellent reminder for the fun times ahead! Available as a Basic or Deluxe kit and a PDF pattern.
New Artist Series Needle Minders!
We are SO lucky to have a friend down the street who turns enamel pins into needle minders for us. This expands the variety I can offer. How perfect are these Artist Series needle minders? Now, some of our favorite illustrators can keep you company as you stitch. You’re in good company!
RIP David Lynch
What an enormous cultural influence (and not just on my husband’s hair!) Hope everything is fine in Heaven, Mr. Lynch. PDF pattern only.
Send Some Love to Our Right Arm, Melia
Meet Melia. She is a very old friend of ours who has been working with us at SCSHQ for a few years now. She is an essential part of our team of three—I can’t even begin to tell you. We love her dearly. She handles all the wholesale orders from Faire, organizes ALL the things, and makes sure we have the right crystals around here to keep things running smoothly. WELL. Last week, after the ice storms and snow we got here in Dallas, Melia slipped on some black ice (the kind you can’t see). And she broke her shoulder AND her hip! I still wince just typing that. Ouch!
So, I was remembering how much my mom LOVED your messages on her birthdays and I thought you might want to send some healing love Melia’s way. If you do, just reply to this email with a note and/or photo and I’ll send them her way. I thought it’d help during her PT journey if you’re game! Thank you!
Very Last Chance to Snag Your 2025 Calendar!
We are OUT of calendars, but there are still some on Amazon—this is the LAST year Rizzoli will be doing them, so grab one while you can! They have 12 full-color pattern charts of our designs so you can stitch along every month!
There are a lot of things I could mention about what’s been happening or is about to happen in the real world; oh boy. I will continue to keep these newsletters as a place of inspiration and respite far from the horrors because that’s probably why you’re here. It’s certainly why I’M here!
I’ve been thinking about how we can each use our subversive humor to remind each other of the good things (community, kindness, empathy). But OF COURSE, we’ll do it in our own smart-ass way, don’t worry. I’ve got some silly ideas lined up for sure!
Thanks for subscribing, I’m so glad you’re here,

p.s. Look at this thing I made over the very long holiday break I took. I like to think the Subversive Cross Stitch logo lady was probably around in the swingin’ sixties, checking her look at the beach.
