The Subversive Version of Demure & Mindful
I’ve been hesitant to jump on the demure meme because I thought it might be over by the time I stitched it, plus it needed a little…pizazz. This alternate phrase idea came from one of my favorite Instagram accounts, esperborzoi. Borzois are neither demure nor mindful, and it’s just not subversive! Available as a kit and a PDF pattern.
Which Needle Minder Is Your Favorite?
I ordered the kitty at left and then I found the kitty at right. Decisions, decisions! What do you think? It’s like a kitty dance-off!
Guitar Scissors for the Cross Stitch Rockstar in You
Nice, sharp guitar embroidery scissors for those of you who would like to jam out while stitching—who says you can’t do both? Beedley-booooooow!
That’s the short report—next week I swear I’ll throw in some extra goodies for paid subscribers. A free PDF and perhaps a giveaway? Also, I’ve got lots of Halloween and gourd season stuff coming up…
Thanks so much for being here!

p.s. Took my first vacation since I started this thing 20 years ago. Just 3 days in the Hill Country, but it was a much-overdue reset. Something about that big ol’ Texas sky is very mind-clearing (especially when viewed from the comfort of air conditioning). And wouldn’t you know, even though we were up in the hills pretty far away from anyone else, the air smelled of BBQ. Texas gets a lot of grief sometimes in the press but, despite the current governor and his clown show, the people here are just as friendly and lovely as ever. I only saw one or two political signs, and for the miles we covered, that’s kind of amazing. There were more baby deer crossing the backroads than crazy people. ;)
I was camping in Pennsylvania near Scranton a few years ago and we had deer walking through our site. Plus tons of chipmunks 🐿. I'm so glad you took time out for a trip, wish I get some time soon too.
