I think they just want your attention, but maybe they’re expecting a lesson?
Or they have advanced knowledge of color theory and they’re just trying to help.
Thanks for the photos of your helpful assistants, keep ‘em coming!
A Tidier Stitching Assistant
Speaking of helpers, here’s a new needle minder just in—if you're not familiar, needle minders have two magnets that go on either side of your fabric while you're stitching. When you take a break, it keeps your needle handy with its magical magnetic powers! Plus, you can hover it over the carpet when you drop your needles one by one like I do (right?)
Here’s Your Summer Project!
While most of my kits are designed to be roughly 5x7”, we also have larger projects in case you go on vacation or if you’re just avoiding the summer heat at home. If you want to stitch your own design or phrase, we have several sizes and types of gorgeous pillowcases—they’re a linen blend and, as far as I know, we’re the only shop in the US to carry these beauties.
Home Sweet Fucking Home Pillow Kit: snarky but cozy.
Cross-Stitchable Tote Bag: show the world your homespun talent.
Can You Not Square Pillow Kit: subtle interior decorating.
BONUS: did you know you can stitch ANY of our patterns on the tote bags and square pillows? They’ll fit just fine—think about that! The possibilities are truly endless.
About the back…
Remember, things don’t have to be perfect: sometimes the back is more interesting than the front.
Or, as @caycezavagliastudio said on Instagram about her piece shown above:
Instagram doesn’t show this other side...the side we each possess but don’t want anyone to see. At best you will see someone with no makeup on Instagram or someone recording and posting the ugly side of others, but never shining a mirror to themselves. This side is messy and broken and full of loose ends, knots, and tension. This is the side that holds love, joy, pain, pride, humility, jealousy, mistakes, memories, hurt, hate, anxiety, depression, faith, regret, beliefs, opinions, selfishness, drive, determination, compassion, empathy, our childhoods, and a washing machine of other emotions and lived experiences. This side is a mess but ultimately it has the potential for beauty…and in my embroideries it absolutely is the source of strength for the front.
Cayce has an amazing show in St. Louis at William Shearburn Gallery — check out the site to see the pieces, they’re huge! I found her through my friend Greta who sent me this post of Cayce washing a finished piece outside with the hose! Goals!!
Next week, I’ll show you the back of a piece I stitched on our Stitch, Plz journals — once the recipient gets their gift! ;)
